Projection: need to automatically qualify
Boston College's résumé is built around a tough defensive identity and a handful of encouraging results but it is undercut by too many damaging setbacks. The road victory at Temple and home wins over Harvard and other lower-tier opponents demonstrate the team can compete, yet neutral-site losses to Davidson and Tulane, the road defeat at Florida Atlantic, and close setbacks to Central Connecticut and Massachusetts have created a string of blemishes that wash away those bright spots. The remainder of the schedule presents clear avenues to alter perception with home dates against Stanford and California and a slate of high-profile conference tests at Duke and Louisville along with trips to Notre Dame and Florida State where a road victory would matter in a big way. Until Boston College adds a meaningful win away from home and avoids further poor losses its résumé will be viewed as heavy on defensive promise but lacking the marquee victories that committees reward.
